What We Do:
PLANNING --- PREPAREDNESS --- RECOVERY --- MITIGATION
Gratiot County Emergency Management coordinates emergency-time efforts in the four focus areas of planning, preparedness, recovery, and mitigation throughout the county.
The emergency needs and services of the county are determined by the Local Emergency Planning Committee, which is comprised of the Emergency Management Coordinator, the County Administrator, and representatives from agriculture, broadcast and print media, elected officials, law enforcement, fire and ambulance services, hospital personnel, and other agencies which provide support to Gratiot County in time of public safety and emergency needs.
Gratiot County Emergency Management operates the Emergency Operations Center, a secure central command center where emergency services can be coordinated in time of need, using secured telephone lines and extensive data and maps of the county.
Gratiot County Emergency Management also has 54 safe and secure shelter locations throughout the county. In the time of an emergency or evacuation, the affected members of the public will be notified of the appropriate shelter location(s) through the broadcast media.
Finally, Gratiot County Emergency Management coordinates at lease one full-scale drill of a mock emergency each year in various locations throughout the county.
